TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • The Sabah Tourism Golf Challenge 2024 is a tournament open to all amateur golfers in a team of four with valid USGA, World Handicapping System of 24 below for men & 36 below for ladies.
  • The Tournament Committee also reserves the rights to accept or refuse any entry without providing any reasons whatsoever.
  • The Tournament shall be played accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited and the Local Rules of the host Club.
  • The mode of play is system 36, stableford points.
  • The Tournament will be played for 3 rounds of 18 holes each (54 holes) on 3 different golf courses.
  • This is a team event tournament with a total of the best three (3) scores based on stableford points from each team for each round.
  • Only 2 players from each registered team will be allowed to play together in a flight during the tournament.
  • Men will be teeing off from the Blue tees and Ladies will be from the Red tees.
  • The Tournament Committee reserves the rights to cancel or change or postpone any of the tournament date/s or venue/s without providing any reasons whatsoever.
  • A Referee is on site on the 3 golf courses daily for any rulings / decisions on course condition and tournament condition.

General

  • The organizer reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
  • Once a ticket is purchased, it cannot be transferred or refunded, regardless of the circumstances.
  • If the event cannot proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, the participant’s registration will be deferred to the next event without refund. Participants may request to upgrade or downgrade their category for the next event.
  • Any protests must be submitted in writing to the organizer within 20 minutes of the participant’s finish time.
  • A refundable deposit of RM150.00 is required for protests, which will be refunded if the protest is successful.
  • Protests submitted after the event will not be considered.
  • Participants must be present at the start/finish area at least one hour before the race begins.
  • If there are fewer than 10 participants in the “Above 50” category for both men and women, they will be moved to the “40-49” category.
  • Participants must demonstrate good sportsmanship and treat others with respect and courtesy.
  • Bare torsos are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
  • Participants must adhere to the designated cut-off time set by the organizer; failure to do so will result in disqualification.
 
Transition:
  • Participants who have not signed in before the transition entrance closes will not be allowed to enter or participate in the race.
  • The transition area will open one hour before the race, and only participants with a BIB or wristband will be permitted to enter.
  • Friends and family members are not permitted to enter the transition area.
  • All racing gear must be placed in the designated area (basket or perimeter). Failure to do so will result in a 2-minute penalty.
Running:
  • Runners must wear their BIB in front and keep it visible at all times.
  • Proper running shoes are required; running barefoot is not allowed.
  • Running with headphones, including open air-bone type, is not permitted.
  • Pacers are not allowed.
  • Runners must stay in the designated lane at all times.
Cycling:
  • Cyclists must wear their BIB at the back and keep it visible at all times.
  • Bicycle numbers must be securely attached to the seat post at all times.
  • Cyclists must wear a helmet throughout the race.
  • Cyclists may push or run with their bicycles to the finish line if needed.
  • Cycling with headphones, including open air-bone type, is not allowed.
  • Drafting on a Time Trial Bike is not permitted due to safety reasons and will result in disqualification.
  • Cyclists should yield to faster riders by cycling on the far left.
  • Overtaking from the left side is prohibited.
  • Riding in the transition area is not allowed. Follow the designated mounting and dismounting line.
Swimming:
  • Participants must know how to swim.
  • Swimmers must wear a swimming buoy at all times.
  • Any swimming stroke is allowed, including treading water or floating.
  • Swimmers must wear a swimming cap of the designated color.
  • Swimmers must follow the prescribed swim course.
  • Brief contact during swimming without impeding progress will not incur a penalty.
  • Continuous impeding of another athlete’s progress will result in a time penalty or disqualification.
  • Deliberate targeting of another athlete to impede progress or cause harm will lead to disqualification
